The new Fiat 500 was the star of a charity event organized by the ‘amfAR’ in Milan. The Italian car manufacturer auctioned-off a facelifted 500 Cabriolet
at the amfAR gala in Milan with all  proceeds donated to AIDS research.

The unit auctioned wasn’t a limited edition model, nor a special built one, but a regular, stock Fiat 500 with white body, black top and burgundy Frau leather interior. So, what’s the catch; why a regular Fiat?

Well, the auction winner was given the opportunity to create a tailor-made, bespoke styling pack for the little car with the designers of Lapo Elkann’s recently established Garage Italia Customs – a tuning garage known for creating one-of-a-kind projects, distinctive and custom-made automobiles.

It may not sound awe-inspiring, but Lapo Elkann is actually Gianni Agnelli grandson. You know, the influential Italian industrialist who owned Fiat, Lancia, Alfa Rome, Maserati and Ferrari. Well, he was the principal shareholder of Fiat, and as head of the Italian car manufacturer, he controlled 4.4% of Italy’s GDP.

Anyway, Lapo was a Fiat marketing manager, but left the Italian car maker to pursue his ambitions, one of which was owning a car shop. So, the little 500 won’t be modified by just “another” tuning firm and whoever bought it will probably have a blast configuring it. Although Garage Italia Customs has a thing for blue-jeans interior and pinstripes.

The Fiat 500 is powered by a TwinAir 0.9-litres 85 hp engine mated to a Dualogic transmission. We don’t know if it will get any modifications to the powerplant, but we do want to see how the the finish product will look like.
