2016 Honda CR-V Introduced With New Special Edition Trim [143 Photos]

Following a significant update for 2015, the Honda CR-V enters the 2016 model year with a new Special Edition (SE) trim.

Positioned between the base LX and the EX grades, the new Special Edition CR-V adds larger 17-inch alloy wheels with an exclusive two tone finish, second-row and rear privacy glass, and security system.

Available in front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) versions, the 2016 Honda CR-V SE costs $800 more than the LX, which is priced from $23,595 in front-wheel drive configuration.

With the top-of-the-line Touring version introduced last year that includes the Honda Sensing suite of safety and driver assistive technologies, CR-V is now available in 12 trim/wheel drive versions.

The engine remains the same 2.4-liter direct-injected DOHC i-VTEC inline 4-cylinder engine that delivers 185hp and 181lb-ft (245Nm) of torque. The engine is mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that helps the Honda CR-V receive EPA fuel economy ratings of 26/33/29 mpg (city/highway/combined) for front-wheel-drive and 25/31/27 mpg for the Real Time AWD models.

Since its introduction in the United States in October 2014, the refreshed 2015 Honda CR-V has been on a record breaking sales run. Nine of the last 12 months have been best individual sales months for the model, with August ranking as CR-V’s all-time best month with sales of almost 35,000 units.
