Bentley’s EXP 10 Speed 6 Concept didn’t need to win the German Design Award to prove its worth. But it did it anyway.

So, what’s Bentley waiting for? Why doesn’t it just put the car into production? The EXP 10 Speed 6 already won numerous design accolades – including the one at the Villa D’Este Concorso D’Eleganza – and, apparently, the British car manufacturer’s potential customers are dying to buy a road-going variant of the car.

Design wise, at least – its styling cues seem to conquer everybody’s heart. So, the German Design Council (yes, it’s a thing) – part of one of the most well respected design competitions in the world – selected the EXP 10 Speed 6 for the Gold Award for its “timeless, iconic Bentley design, clever use of new materials and aesthetic dynamism”.

It may sound corny, but they do have a point. The Bentley’s attention to details is – as always – outstanding, as panel judge Johannes Barckmann pointed out:

“The designers of the EXP 10 Speed 6 achieved a fantastic reinterpretation of the British legend. This is particularly apparent when looking at the interior. The door panels are not covered with leather, but instead with high-quality wood.

“The exterior inspires with a progressive, elegant design vocabulary that transports the classic car into the future. EXP 10 Speed 6 is an extraordinarily beautiful automobile that perfectly combines aesthetics and precision – and is unmistakably a Bentley. It couldn’t be done better.”

So, it seems that Bentley is still playing the field, looking for positive reactions when it comes to the EXP 10 Speed 6 concept. We just hope the car manufacturer won’t get cold feet and eventually launch the thing, as it’s unlike any Bentley seen before.
