While the M2 and the M4 GTS are two of the hottest and, of course, most recent M-Division products from BMW, the thought of combining their strengths was too good to pass up.

Let’s start off by saying that there’s nothing to hate about the M2. It’s compact, lightweight and about as quick to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) as an M5. It’s got 370 PS, 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) during overboost, and will hit the previously mentioned mark in just 4.3 seconds as long as you go for the DCT gearbox.

The M4 GTS, on the other hand, is not just a hardcore version of the regular M4 Coupe, but also the fastest production BMW ever made, all thanks to roughly 70 extra PS, 50 extra Nm (36 lb-ft) of torque, an increased boost pressure and an 80 kg (176 lbs) diet. All in all, the M4 GTS weighs even less than the M2, so it not hard to understand how this car climbed all the way to the top of the BMW food chain.

So how about this hypothetical M2 GTS? It certainly looks cool, since it’s modeled after the M4 GTS and its design elements. But what if we were to (still hypothetically) feed it the exact same power and torque numbers the M4 GTS got when compared to its stock version?

We’d probably end up with a 430 PS, 550 Nm rocket, that may or may not hit 100 km/h in less than 4 seconds – it’s fun to think that it would, isn’t it?
