Waze is the traffic jam or speed trap avoiding navigation app that may have already saved you time and / or money. I (and around 50 million others) use it too, but I’ve never been a fan of the cluttered layout and often clunky menus.

Now Google, the owners of Waze, have launched a completely new, and they say, much improved version of the app (4.0). Apparently, it specifically tackles the issue of functionality response speed and has more focus on making the main functions easy to access.

It still offers the very same capabilities, such as real time recalculation of routes, telling you where other users saw police or if there’s an accident up ahead. These are reported in real time by users and it really couldn’t get any faster than this… unless they launch millions of traffic monitoring drones to cover all of the world (an unfeasible scenario).

It’s an example of giving users a simple yet powerful tool, then letting them use it well. Oh, and version 4.0 has only been released on Apple devices so far; Android users will have to wait for it.
