It’s pretty amazing what you can do with an all-wheel driven Hyundai Genesis, excellent lighting control and quite a bit of editing.

The HTRAC is Hyundai’s clever all-wheel drive system which delivers all-weather driving characteristics together with fun to drive performance oriented rear-wheel drive setup for when the sun comes out. And yes, Hyundai did make a pretty big deal about how the all-new Genesis was tested and tweaked at the Nurburgring, among other places.

This video means to demonstrate how HTRAC adjusts power distribution on the fly in all types of road conditions, such as wet surfaces, bumpy roads and so on. The idea is pretty clever to have the lights go out and the wheels shining bright, as you can definitely get a sense for what each individual wheel is doing and why.

While the 3.8 liter Genesis isn’t Hyundai’s flagship model, it’s the only one available with AWD ($2,500 optional extra). The 5.0 liter 420 HP V8 version only comes with RWD – to go with its $51,500 price tag, for starters.

The 3.8 liter model is powered by a 311 HP V6 unit and costs upwards of $38,000 before you start adding things like ultra premium leather seats, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, high beam assist and so on.

That being said, enjoy watching this fiery-wheeled Genesis put on a light show.
