Mercedes C63 AMG & CLK63 AMG Black Series Get Together

When two of the most hardcore Mercedes-Benz products join forces just so they can look good on camera, we can’t help but take notice.

To some, the CLK 63 AMG Black Series is still one of Merc’s all-time greatest “muscle cars”. It was produced from 2007 to 2009, and even served time as the official Formula 1 Safety Car (regular model) for two seasons in a row.

Compared to the standard CLK 63 AMG and its 481 PS and 630 Nm (465 lb-ft) of torque, the Black Series came with 507 PS, which at that time was very impressive, even though torque figures remained unchanged.

In a straight line, it could monster the 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint in just a little over 4 seconds, while needing only 8.8 seconds to reach 160 km/h (100 mph).

It also had its rear seats removed, an upgraded rear axle and a fully adjustable suspension system – all of which made this car a real beast. It looked mean, stood wide, and pretty much demanded your respect.

Then came the C63 AMG, which actually used a revised front end suspension straight from the CLK 63 Black. Once Mercedes decided to build a Black Series version of this new generation model, they figured that 517 PS and 620 Nm (457 lb-ft) would suffice. Yes, that’s actually less torque than in the older CLK 63 Black.

Even so, the C63 AMG Black Series remains a highly desirable car to this day. You can use it to hit 100 km/h (62) in 4.2 seconds and max out at 300 km/h (186 mph). It also features a similar design philosophy to the CLK Black, which adds to its really mean appearance.

It’s really great to see these two cars side by side and we’re glad people actually got together and made this photoshoot happen.
