Toyota C-HR Production Model To Debut In Geneva; Could Be Named Auris Cross

Remember Toyota’s C-HR Concept that made an impact at the Frankfurt motor show with its “courageous” design?

Well, get used to its styling, as Toyota plans debut the production variant of the striking-looking concept-car.

The C-HR isn’t a new study, as it was first paraded at the 2014 Paris auto show. However, when Toyota placed it again in the spotlight this autumn, at Frankfurt – with a slightly upgraded design – we knew things were getting serious.

As a matter of fact, after unveiling the new and improved variant of the concept, the Japanese car manufacturer actually expressed (multiple times) that it won’t necessarily water-down and dilute the C-HR’s design and style. So, getting the future automobile’s looks out of the way, all that remains to know is its debut date.

And we already had a hunch that the new crossover might show up in early 2016, but now Autocar reports that Toyota confirmed it will have the production variant of the C-HR ready just in time for the Geneva motor show, in March. To top it off, the magazine says the crossover could be called Auris Cross.

The production vehicle is expected to be powered by a next-gen hybrid system and a four-cylinder engine mated to a CVT gearbox. The crossover will allegedly be similar in size to the Nissan Juke, and it will be built on Toyota’s New Generation Architecture platform.
