It’s been nearly four months since Porsche built the last piece of its hybrid hypercar, yet interested parties can still acquire a brand new one.

As is often the case with limited edition models, some of the 918 units were bought not to be driven but to be sold almost immediately. It’s a sure bet they will fetch a hefty premium over the sticker price, so if you’re into the business you can look at it strictly as a nice investment.

One 918 Spyder is currently available in Australia at Dutton Garage, a dealership claiming “immense buying power” that doesn’t deal with “average” – only “masterpieces” will do.

Porsche’s 887 PS, all-wheel drive hybrid certainly fits the bill (pun intended). Whether it’s the best-looking of the three 21st hypercars everyone’s itching to get their hands on is a matter of personal taste.

So far, though, in spite of being the least powerful, it has proven to be the most potent. Just ask the McLaren P1; at Woking, they must still be sulking…

This example is painted in silver and has just 30 km on its odo, which means it hasn’t been driven at all since it left Weissach for Melbourne.

Price is POA, so forget the old adage: you will have to ask. Based on its condition, our guesstimate would be somewhere in the region of US$1.8-2.0 million. In this rarefied market, the original price is not a factor; your account has lots of zeroes anyway or else you’re not in the game. Simple as that.
