The Fiat 500X is the Italian compact crossover that wants to attract young families away from Nissan Qashqais and other similar models.

Based on the same underpinnings with the Jeep Renegade, the Fiat 500X wants to prove that it’s a lot more than another take on the cute 500 design recipe.

Featuring a range of turbocharged engines -bar the entry-level 1.6-litre version- the new Fiat 500X is indeed a very attractive proposition in its segment, offering enough space and practicality, without being another dull-looking crossover.

It’s all a matter of personal taste in the end, but the thing that surprises us the most is hearing that the new 500X is actually good fun to drive, in this 2WD turbocharged 140PS 1.4-litre petrol version reviewed by Car Buyer.

When was the last time you heard that a modern, larger-than-a-500 Fiat was actually pleasant to drive? Exactly.
