Mercedes already updated the A-Class earlier this year and we’ve all seen the CLA facelift scoops, in four-door and Shooting Brake versions, and now, almost two years in its production, the GLA will be tweaked too.

This spy video from Youtuber ‘walkoART’ reveals a slightly camouflaged prototype of the compact crossover, tested on public roads. The model is expected to bring redesigned lighting units on both ends, with LED technology in the front as an option, together with modified bumpers.

Since it’s based on the A-Class, it will get the same upgraded infotainment system with a larger 8-inch display, compatible with Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink.

The hatchback brought improvements under the hood too, including the new entry-level A160, with a 1.6-liter 102PS engine, but it’s not sure whether this will be added to the GLA too.

What we can tell you is that the range-topping version, the Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 4MATIC, has already received the same tweaks as the compact hot hatch, for the 2016MY, meaning an extra 21-horses out of the 2.0-liter turbo four-pot, for a total of 381PS (376hp) and 475Nm (350lb-ft). The top-of-the-line model needs 4.4-sec to reach 100 km/h (62mph) from a standstill.

The Mercedes-Benz GLA has turned out to be very successful for the German automaker, which will keep updates to a minimum. An exact reveal date hasn’t been released so far.
