It seems inevitable that the Ferrari 458 Italia will long be remembered as one of the finest Ferrari’s ever produced. When launched in 2009, it not only outperformed its predecessors and rivals, but was incredibly thrilling to drive and comfortable enough to be used on a daily basis.

With the launch of the 488 GTB, the Italian marque has bid farewell to its naturally-aspirated V8 engine but thankfully, 458 owners are continuing to enjoy their cars and the following owner is certainly one of them. Despite there being faster and more powerful alternatives on the market, the 458 is still a leading performance machine; but just how fast can it be compared to a Lamborghini Aventador?

During a couple of rolling drag races hosted by GTBoard, the 458 Italia shows that it is still incredibly impressive in a straight line. During the two races, it manages to keep the 700 hp Aventador honest despite the Lambo’s obvious power advantage.

Has the Ferrari been upgraded by its owner? Is it one of the “carefully prepared” press cars Chris Harris had been ranting about? Could it be that all is absolutely normal? Whatever; just enjoy the video of the two Italian supercars going head to head.
