At this year’s Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, Jeff Zwart set out to become just the 13th driver in history to complete the race to the clouds in less than 10 minutes.

Behind the wheel of a modified Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car, Zwart set off to tackle the 12.42 mile road course and teamed up with GoPro now the finished video of his spectacular Pikes Peak run has been released.

With his turbocharged 911 GT3 pumping out 800 hp and complete with a sequential transmission, Zwart managed to blast up the tarmac course in just 9 minutes and 46.24 seconds. That time is absolutely incredible but arguably even more insane is some of the footage captured during the run.

Filmed from a selection of GoPro cameras both inside the car, on Zwart’s helmet and across the 911’s exterior, we get an up close look at one of the world’s oldest and most dangerous motorsport events. Interestingly, Zwart managed to make up all of his time over his previous best run across the top of the mountain with snow lining the road and sheer drops ensuring Zwart was at the top of his game during the driver.

While Pikes Peak may no longer be quite as epic as it was when part tarmac and part gravel, it still remains one of the highlights of the automotive calendar.
