Mazda Lifts The Veil On Tokyo Auto Salon-Bound Concepts

Five different concepts have been unveiled by Mazda ahead of the Tokyo Auto Salon next month. As with concepts already seen from the likes of Honda and Daihatsu, Mazda’s concepts aren’t outlandish and simply add both aggression and sophistication to five cars from the brand.

Kicking things off are two concepts based around the Mazda MX-5, known simply as the Roadster in Japan. The first is dubbed the RS Racing Concept and is painted gloss black. It is been fitted with a bold splitter at the front end complete with red accents. Matching side skirts are also featured as is a custom rear bumper and diffuser also including red elements. A new dual-exiting exhaust has been installed alongside bespoke wheels, while the adjustable suspension is meant to improve the handling of the already driver-focused sports car.

The second MX-5 on display is the NR-A Racing Spec. It is more focused on track use, featuring a racing-inspired white, silver, red and black livery, a prominent tow hook and a roll cage. Inside there are racing bucket seats and Takata seatbelts.

The customized Mazda CX-3 brandishes a black and red paint scheme similar to the Roadster RS Racing Concept, but its most eye-catching elements are the new rear bumper and roof-mounted spoiler.

Also on display will be the Mazda6, known as the Atenza in its local market. It’s been outfitted with a new splitter, side skirts and rear bumper as well as a set of black wheels with silver lips.

The fifth, and final, concept is a rally-prepped Mazda2 with mudflaps, rally wheels and tyres, a roll cage and a stripped-out cabin.
