If we were to wonder what improvements would the classic Super Mario video game need to make it even more…Super, we’d probably never come up with an answer. Mercedes on the other hand…

Nintendo just released a new version of the iconic video game, called Super Mario Maker, which basically includes elements of the classic game, together with an editor-mode that allows the player to come up with outrageous custom levels for the old plumber to explore.

So, in order to make the game even more comprehensive, the German car manufacturer has developed an Event Course called “Mercedes-Benz Jump’n’Drive” for the Super Mario Maker video game, which lets you unlock a GLA model to add to the collection of Super Mario costumes if completed successfully. Truth be told, we didn’t expect to see a Mercedes in the iconic Nintendo video game.

As a matter of fact, in order to visualize the game principle of “Jump’n’Drive”, Mercedes went the extra mile and even spawned an interesting ad promoting the two products. But what does Nintendo and Mercedes have in common? Well, more than you think, according to Dr Jens Thiemer, Vice President Marketing Mercedes-Benz Cars.

“We are delighted to once again be represented in a blockbuster game like Super Mario Maker”, he said. “Mercedes-Benz and Nintendo have a lot in common. Above all, they share the same vision: to inspire their customers and fans – whether in real life or in the virtual world.”

This is not the first time the two companies collaborate, as the GLA special content is one of multiple free downloadable vehicles in Mario Kart 8. The event in the Jump’n’Drive event was apparently inspired by the GLA’s appearance in the aforementioned title, and Mercedes wanted to build a level with Mario taking the model on a road trip.
