Even though Mercedes-Benz says it’s not planning on building anything smaller than an A-Class for the foreseeable future, you never know.

Besides, the automotive industry is constantly changing and so are consumers, especially considering the deteriorating state of our environment and the overpopulation issue, which may in turn lead to both fewer and smaller cars in the long run.

That’s one scenario where a B-Segment, sub-compact Benz might make sense. Of course, it wouldn’t necessarily need to look like this rendering, seen as how this is a Renault Clio dressed as a GLA and that rear end is a bit awkward.

Another thing worth taking into consideration is historical evidence. Whenever car manufacturers say they’ll never do this or they’ll never do that, it almost always turns out differently. So if the future is to bring us a sub A-Class Mercedes-Benz model, would that be such a terrible thing?
