More Than 570,000 Jeep And Dodge Vehicles Recalled Over Fire Hazards

Two global recalls have just been issued by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), which affects around 570,000 vehicles.

The first concerns all 2011 and 2012 model year Jeep Grand Cherokees and all Dodge Durangos produced before September 12, 2012.

Of these, 352,831 units were sold in the United States, 13,037 in Mexico, 26,478 in Canada and 84,330 in other markets around the world.

The recall involves the vanity-mirror wiring, which has the potential to short-circuit potentially sparking a fire. To fix the problem, the wiring of the affected models will be secured with a new adhesive.

Meanwhile, the second recall relates to a problematic power steering fluid line that could have an incorrectly-positioned clamp. This could lead to a power steering fluid leak and, if the fluid were to reach a hot surface, start a fire.

This recall impacts a total of 60,107 units of the 2015 MY Jeep Compass and Patriot in the US, with a further 5,755 in Canada, 3,351 in Mexico and 23,995 in other countries.
