Even though this type of accident is easily avoidable, once the driver of what looks like an old VW Sharan loses control, things went literally out of his hands until the car came back down to Earth.
Prepare yourselves because this might just be one of the most absurd accidents you’ll ever see. It’s both ridiculous and jaw-dropping at the same time. It’s one thing to mess up and run yourself off the road into a ditch or something of that nature, but to take off vertically like you were on a mission to Mars? That’s rare.
Before we go any further, rest assured that the occupants of the MPV seemed OK, though understandably shaken up and scared, according to the person behind the wheel of the dashcam car.
The video was filmed in North-East Romania, on a patch of road that isn’t exactly up to EU standards, which you can tell almost immediately from the footage, as everything seems to rattle inside that car. Unfortunately, the conditions were also a little wet, even though it wasn’t raining at the time – could have played a small part in having the driver lose control like that.
As far as we can tell, what happened is that during the initial overtaking maneuver, the Sharan got a bit too wide and then too close to the small truck, and the driver ended up over-adjusting and yanking on the steering wheel too much, which eventually led to him running himself off the road.
What happens next is pretty unbelievable because the car flips over violently with more hang time than Michael Jordan, before landing on its side moments later.
Not exactly something you expect to see every day, is it?
