Lamborghini Diablo Sold For $4,600, Some Work Needed

Santa isn’t that – as you can see, it’s completely ruined Diablo that, nevertheless, found a new owner.

Of course this is meant to be a restoring project. This one though is going to be much trickier than usual. This Lambo was destroyed, in the seller’s words, by “a fire located near the glove box area“. Still, the remaining metal was treated with a substance to neutralize any rust and “no smell, no residue” are eminating from it.

The beat-up metal frame of what used to be a gorgeous supercar was stored inside a warehouse for a few years and was recently listed on eBay, where it managed to get 26 bids, with the winning one totaling $4,600.

What the buyer got doesn’t have a drivetrain, bodywork or title and, as usual, he is responsible for picking up the vehicle.

The Diablo was manufactured from 1990 to 2001. It was the first, and last, model developed under Chrysler’s ownership of the company, as Lamborghini was sold to the VW Group in 1998. It came in two body styles, coupe and roadster, with RWD or AWD .

Originally, it was powered by a 5.7-liter V12 with 492hp paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. In 1999 it received an overhaul losing the pop-up headlights and getting a more streamlined bodywork, a new dashboard and a power upgrade to 536 PS (529 hp) and 605 Nm (446 lb-ft) of torque.

The Diablo was replaced by the Murcielago, which in turn was succeeded by the Aventador.

Now, about that project: we’re really curious how much work it’s going to require and, naturally, what the total bill will be. Let’s hope we’ll find out one day.
