From the moment the Porsche Cayman was released, enthusiasts were calling for a hardcore model with performance as its number one focus.

Given the Cayman’s proximity to the 911 in Porsche’s range, it seemed unlikely that a Cayman variant with figures to match a 911 would ever see the light of day. That all changed at this year’s Geneva Motor Show with the unveiling of the Cayman GT4.

Created by the company’s GT division, responsible for the iconic 911 GT3 and GT3 RS, the Cayman GT4 not only borrows the 3.8-litre of the (previous-gen) 911 Carrera S but also includes the same front suspension as the 911 GT3. Combined with its superior mid-engined layout, it’s little wonder why people are clambering over the GT4.

Typically, the Cayman GT4 has the same wheels as the GT3 (only with five, instead of a single wheel nut), which look pretty suited to it. In order to provide one particularly sleek white example with some added personality, the crew at HRE Wheels installed a set of their RC100 shoes on the sports car. They have a satin black finish and the intricate spoke design helps contrast the relatively simple and unobtrusive design of the GT4.
