Chevrolet is working on a facelifted Camaro and a new report is suggesting the car will be offered with the seven-speed manual transmission from the Corvette.

Autoguide recently discovered a document from the California Air Resources Board which lists engine and transmission options for both the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro and Corvette. The document shows both models will be offered with a 6.2-liter V8 engine but the Camaro listing indicates it will have three transmission options. The first two choices carryover and include a six-speed manual and an eight-speed automatic. The third and final choice is a seven-speed manual which is also available on the Corvette.

These types of documents are subject to change but Corvette chief engineer Tadge Juechter has previously touted the benefits of the transmission by saying “The seven-speed gives the driver the control of a true three-pedal manual transmission with perfect shifts enabled by Active Rev Matching.” The gearbox also features a dual-mass flywheel and a dual-disc clutch which delivers “greater shift quality and feel through lower inertia.”

Little is else is known about the updated Camaro but officials have previously said they are looking at “ways to repackage and reprice” the car and this will likely result in a more affordable model which can be equipped with a V8 engine. Right now the cheapest model with a V8 costs $37,000 which makes $1,905 more expensive than the 2018 Ford Mustang GT.

The company has also hinted they are going to focus on the car’s turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine which currently produces 275 hp (205 kW) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. That’s significantly less than the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder in the Mustang which develops 310 hp (231 kW) and 350 lb-ft (474 Nm) of torque.
