Looking for a discreet makeover and more power coming from an already potent 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine? Just take your facelifted Mercedes-AMG S63 to IMSA.

What happens next is that the tuner will install custom turbochargers, catalysts and stainless steel downpipes, thus lifting the output from 612PS (603hp) and 900Nm (664lb-ft) of torque, to 720PS (710hp) and 990Nm (730lb-ft) of torque.

The stock 2018 Mercedes-AMG S63 needs only 3.5sec to complete the 0-100km/h (62mph) sprint, or 0.2sec less than the BMW M760Li xDrive, but unfortunately, IMSA didn’t say how quick their modified car is.

Look a little closer at the German flagship saloon, and you will see a few carbon fiber inserts at both ends, which follow the contours of the car, and are said to improve its aerodynamics. It also gets a discreet lip for the trunk lid, and a slightly tweaked grille that drops the iconic 3-pointed star emblem.

New wheels, 9×21-inch at the front and 10.5x-21-inch at the rear, shod in 255/35 and 295/30 rubber, respectively, along with what the tuner calls “perfectly adjusted tailpipes”, complete the work on the outside.

While the changes may not be as dramatic compared to, say, the Brabus ones, IMSA still felt the need to give this Mercedes-AMG S63 a new name, so they fittingly called it the ‘S720’.
