Images have leaked online purportedly showing the fully digital gauge cluster of the next-generation 2019 Mazda3.

Published by Chinese news outlet PCAuto, the images reveal that the hatchback’s cluster will have two different configurations. The first of these configurations includes a large central dial with the tachometer and a digital readout of the speed in the middle. This gauge is then flanked by two smaller circles which display the water temperature and the time.

The second configuration is dramatically different and has two equally-sized circular gauges displaying the tachometer and speedometer.

As Autoblog notes, the steering wheel, buttons, stalks, and instrument panel surround all appear unchanged from the existing model. Despite these familiar parts, the inclusion of a digital gauge cluster transforms the entire cabin and makes the car feel much more premium.

It’s not just the cabin where Mazda designers have implemented serious changes. For example, the hatchback will be available with the firm’s advanced Spark Controlled Compression Ignition (SPCCI) Skyactiv-X engine which will boost torque between 10 and 30 per cent and improve fuel economy by 25 per cent over the current 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G powertrain.

The new Mazda3 is set to land in dealerships worldwide next year. An all-wheel drive version may even be offered to U.S. customers.
