“Hell, Yeah!”: NYPD Officer Crashes Confiscated Bike, Crowd Cheers

A New York Police Department officer got more than he bargained for over the weekend after crashing a confiscated dirtbike in Harlem, New York City.

The New York Post reports that local police discovered an abandoned dirtbike at an intersection shortly after someone had been seen riding it recklessly through traffic. Officers needed to transport it to the nearby 32nd Precinct station house and Officer Brian Hinton thought he could safely do just that. As it turns out, he couldn’t.

Footage from the scene shows Hinton unintentionally performing a little wheelie as soon as he sets off. He then proceeds to drive through an intersection with a red light with seemingly no control over the dirtbike. A vehicle driving through the intersection is forced to slam on its brakes as Hinton rides through. Moments later, he crashes and the bike slides into a Cadillac on the other side of the intersection.

A number of locals can be heard screaming at the officer after his crash. One man repeatedly shouts “Hell, yeah!” in jubilation at seeing the NYPD member slam into the road. Many others can be heard laughing at the crash while fellow NYPD officers approach the scene.

It is reported that Hinton injured his shoulder and was taken to Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Hospital for treatment before being released.

According to a police source, it is common for officers to drive confiscated vehicles back to local station houses: “That’s how you bring the bikes back if you don’t have a trailer to put them on. You can’t leave them in the street.”

Before Hinton gets back on a bike, however, he could use a little training…

those in that crowd cheering are trash.

    • dumblikeyou2

Anyone who wants to be a NYC cop and deal with these primates on a daily basis, isn’t easily embarrassed so I doubt he was worried about anything but himself and maybe that car the bike hit.

      • Lloyd Anthony

I don’t think cops refer to their fellow cops as primates but it’s a good word to describe them. It’s a pity the citizens of NYC have to be policed by these orangutans.

    • DMax

They’re trash, but so is nypd.

      • Six_Tymes

that cop is an idiot to do that, obviously. the nypd isn’t trash. do you live or work in ny? or will you resort to lying and say yes, i worked for 2 years and went to school in NYC. calling the nypd trash like you have is really a dumb thing to say.

        • DMax

Yes, live and work in NYC, and their incompetency and thuggish behavior is on display every other day. Are you the type that says cops are some of the bravest out there watching our backs? NYPD are just thugs with badges nothing more. From what I hear working in NYPD sucks for cops themselves and maybe why they’re such a-holes.

  • McFly

I wouldn’t want that on my streets – incompetent police officer not realizing his incompetence.
Was there really not one police in that crowd that new how to properly operate a bike?

(The shouting guy is insignificant. He’s just doing his logical part.)

My only issue would be if he tickets others for no helmet, as he is not wearing one himself. Otherwise respect for police having to deal with whining criminal minorities who think they do not need to be accountable for their criminal actions. The most embarrasing thing for a law enforcement officer? The deputy who left the keys in the ignition and had his Police Tahoe stolen by that girl that was making the car site rounds last week. He he. Having to explain that to the Sheriff…..

    • Thunderbolt

One more reason why we need push start button.
Never have to leave the key in the car again.

    • Lloyd Anthony

What’s a criminal minority ? Cops that commit crimes ? Are they really the minority ?

This was so gratifying to watch.

      You’re a stoner, right?

      • uS’gedlemba

        No, gratifying nonetheless.

I thought this was a website about cars?

Another article about this incident stated that the officer could have waited for the transport truck.
If he knew he was not a skilled rider he should not have gotten on the bike. here are the comments from the other residents that were on the seen

“I think he was trying to be friendly and just try to make a friendly approach to it, but I think he went over the line,” Harlem resident Corey Wesley told CBS2’s Jenna DeAngelis.

“That’s pretty bad, man. Why would that cop endanger himself? He endangered that person that was walking across the street. He endangered the person in the car that almost hit him,” resident Carl Barely said.

“I think he was doing his job. He was just trying to take it to the precinct,” another resident added. “I don’t think he did anything wrong.”

  • Bill Nguyen

Yeah, not sure what’s funny about this article

  • Felix Le Forestier

He maybe should have kept his hand on the clutch longer

  • Carl Sloan

    You’re a stoner, right?

  • Carl Sloan

That’s great, but why so evasive? In my experience, most cop-haters turn out to be stoners. Am I right?
