A prototype for the 992-generation Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet has been spied testing near the home of Porsche in Stuttgart, Germany.
As Porsche has already unveiled the new 911, it’s been happy to start testing prototypes of future variants covered in very little camouflage, just like this one. In fact, the only ‘camo’ we can see on this tester is some black tape across the taillights.
Perhaps the first thing you’ll notice about this 911 Turbo Cabriolet prototype are the oval-shaped quad tailpipes. They’re somewhat similar to the huge tailpipes of the range-topping 911 GT2 RS and quite a lot different than the quad units we’ve seen on other 992 prototypes. This leads us to believe that the ‘standard’ Turbo may sport these exhaust outlets while the faster Turbo S models will feature quad pipes.

The rear wing of this 992 Turbo is also a little different to other prototypes. Rather than sporting a flat spoiler which is hydraulically-operated, the wing of this 911 Turbo Cabriolet appears to be fixed in place and features aggressive ‘flics’ on the end-plates in a design similar to the previous-generation 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series model.
In terms of power, we’re told that the new 911 Turbo Cabriolet and Turbo S Cabriolet (as well as the Coupe models) will have an updated version of the car manufacturer’s famed 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine. Power for the Turbo models will probably rest just above the 600 hp mark while the Turbo S could churn out upwards of 650 hp.
