If you’re more the “do it yourself” type of driver and you want to have a more mechanical connection with your Porsche, then finding one with a six-speed manual gearbox should be your top priority.

Now, if buying used isn’t an issue, then you might want to take a look at this 2007 991 (997.1) Turbo currently in search of a new owner on Bring a Trailer. It has 17,000 miles on the clock, a high-spec interior and of course a 3.6-liter flat-six rated at 473 HP (480 PS).

Since this is a Turbo, it also comes with flared rear fenders, side and rear intakes, a front lip spoiler and a hydraulically-powered rear wing. The color of the car is called Basalt Black, and we think it goes pretty well with those aftermarket 19-inch Avant Garde wheels.

The interior is perhaps even more impressive thanks to all the contrast stitching on the seats, door panels and dashboard, although the Carbon Package is particularly enticing, adding lightweight material to the switch panel, rear center console, door trim, sill plates, shift knob and steering wheel. The car is also equipped with the optional Sport Chrono package and features Guards Red seat belts and crested headrests, while the current owner also added TechArt pedals and aftermarket transparent floor mats.

We did notice that gauge cluster readout that says “TPC inactive system learning”, but fixing that could be as simple as replacing the batteries for the tire pressure monitoring system sensors. Still, it’s something to keep an eye on.

As for performance, the car’s 3.6-liter flat-six unit puts down 473 HP (480 PS) and 457 lb-ft (620 Nm) of torque with the aid of a 6-speed manual transmission and in this case, an optional locking rear differential. On paper, it accelerates to 60 mph (96 km/h) in under four seconds – pretty fast for any imaginable scenario except, maybe, drag racing.

With five days left in the auction, the highest bid sits at $69,000. Sure, you can get a brand-new ‘Vette and pocket $10k (at least, as we suspect that price will go up), but which one would you rather have?
