The Baby Bronco is one of the worst kept secrets in Detroit, but spy photographers have managed to catch a prototype up close during a pit stop.

Dressed in heavy camouflage, the crossover has a boxy design which doesn’t look terribly exciting. However, this is due to the camouflage as previous photos have shown the model will have flowing curves, pronounced fender flares and a unique greenhouse with blacked out pillars.

These styling features can’t be seen in the spy photos, but they do give us a glimpse of the Baby Bronco’s circular headlights. They should sit on either side of a blacked out grille which features prominent “Ford” lettering.

The big news today is our first look inside the cabin. Unfortunately, there isn’t much to see as the dash and door panels are covered by camouflage. However, we can spot a leather-wrapped steering wheel that appears to be shared with the 2020 Escape.

A closer inspection also provides a glimpse of what appears to be a digital instrument cluster. It features a prominent tachometer with a redline of around 6,500 rpm. Below the tach is a coolant temperature display and a gear indicator which sits off to the right.

Ford has been tight-lipped about performance specifications, but engine options are expected to carryover from the Escape. As a result, we can expect an entry-level 1.5-liter EcoBoost three-cylinder with 180 hp (134 kW / 182 PS) and 177 lb-ft (240 Nm) of torque. There could also be an optional 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder which develops 250 hp (186 kW / 253 PS) and 275 lb-ft (372 Nm) of torque.
