Following its global debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March, Koenigsegg has been flying around its Jesko show car across the globe, and Larry Kosilla from AMMO NYC recently had the opportunity to lay his hands on it – literally.

Kosilla has made a name for himself as one of the best detailers in the automotive industry and was asked by Koenigsegg to spruce up the Jesko it is currently displaying at Manhattan Motor Cars in New York City. The vehicle isn’t a running prototype and, therefore, hasn’t been driven on the roads, but was still in need of some cleaning and detailing.

When building its Jesko show car, Koenigsegg evidently left no stone unturned, as Kosilla says it has the best paint job of any production car he has ever seen.

Remarkably, it has 20 layers of base coat, one layer of White Pearl, one coat of Champagne-colored paint, three coats with gray/blue/green sparkles, and no less than nine (!) coats of clear coat. In some areas, its paint is more than five times thicker than you’d find on a Rolls-Royce.

AMMO NYC’s videos are always very informative for car owners who want to maintain their cars without damaging the paintwork. One of our key takeaways from the video is how important it is to ensure that some form of lubrication is used whenever you are cleaning or drying your car to minimize friction and the risk of creating tiny micro-scratches and swirl marks.

The white paint of the Jesko showcased may not be as eye-catching as some other finishes from the Swedish supercar manufacturer, but after watching this clip, we’re pretty sure you’ll walk away impressed by it.
