Ford has announced a series of updates for the 2020 Galaxy and S-Max in Europe, which now sport a visual makeover plus new gear.

Enhancing the two people carriers is the Vignale specification, which benefits from a few highlights such as the ‘flying V’ signature for the upper grille, with satin chrome surround, and satin chrome fog lamp surrounds.

Inside, the Galaxy Vignale gets the leather-wrapped instrument panel and center console with grey stitching, heated steering wheel and aluminum appliques and pedals. The S-Max Vignale adds heated and cooled front seats, with electric adjustment and massage function.

Offering a more distinctive styling compared to the regular S-Max and Galaxy are the revised front ends. Trend and Titanium models get bright chrome upper grille and fog lamp surrounds, whereas the S-Max ST-Line sports a unique honeycomb grille with black surround and black fog lamp surrounds. New wheel options complete the revised look, with the 18-inch two-tone, 15-spoke set available for the S-Max and Galaxy Titanium, and the 17-inch two-tone, 20-spoke available for the Galaxy Titanium.

The Trend and Titanium variants of the two minivans pack new 18-way adjustable front seats. Elsewhere, the S-Max and Galaxy feature Wi-Fi hotspot capability via the optional FordPass Connect, which also includes the FordPass mobile app that allows users to find the vehicle, check the fuel level, oil life and alarm, and remotely lock and unlock the doors. The new Local Hazard information functionality informs drivers of a potentially dangerous situation on the road ahead, independent to the sat-nav and based on data sourced from emergency services, local authorities and other vehicles connected.

Powering the 2020 S-Max and Galaxy is a 2.0-liter diesel engine, in three outputs, producing 150 PS (148 hp / 110 kW), 190 PS (187 hp / 140 kW) and 240 PS (237 hp / 177 kW). Base models get a six-speed manual transmission, whereas the updated eight-speed auto is available in higher specs.
