Jaguar has unveiled its I-Type 4 racer for the sixth season of Formula E and also announced its driver lineup.

Piloting the new I-Type 4 for the 2019/2020 season will be New Zealand’s Mitch Evans and James Calado from the UK. Castrol has also been announced as one of the racing outfit’s latest partners.

According to the British car manufacturer, the I-Type 4 features an all-new electric motor, gearbox, inverter, rear suspension and dampers over its predecessor. It is also a touch lighter and this is said to improve the handling and performance. The car also has a lower center of gravity than previous iterations and the new powertrain includes an improve vehicle control module that increases processing capacity and allows for faster software development.

“The start of a new season is an exciting time for the team. After months of hard work we are excited to show the world the new Jaguar I-TYPE 4,” Panasonic Jaguar Racing team director James Barclay said. “We have applied all of our experience in Formula E to date and our latest innovations into the new racecar and the development team have created what we believe will be our most competitive Formula E car to date. We’ve learnt how to win as a team and we are hungry for more in season six. We can’t wait to get racing!”

The racing outfit has also announced new partnerships with LEGO and Scalextric to create mini versions of its electric races. From January 2020, fans will be able to buy a Lego Speed Champions set featuring the Formula E Panasonic Jaguar Racing GEN2 racer and the Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy. The Jaguar I-Type from Scalextric will go on sale in Spring 2020.
