2021 SEAT Ateca Facelift Reveals More Of Its Revised Styling

Seat’s best-selling SUV, the Ateca, is getting ready to embrace its first mid-cycle refresh, four years after production began.

The compact model has been spied testing again in northern Europe, hiding the changes underneath vinyl stickers. At the front, it sports a redesigned bumper and slightly bigger grille, flanked by the new headlights with different DRL signature.

The back end is different too, with new LED taillights and a bumper that doesn’t have cutouts for the exhaust pipes, at least on this particular test prototype.

Inside, designers are expected to update the upholstery and trim. The infotainment system is believed to gain new software and everything else will, in all likelihood, carry over. The driver assistance package could be revised as well, although it’s too early to talk about the novelties.

Based on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform and sharing underpinnings with the latest Tiguan and Skoda Karoq, the Ateca should continue with the same engine lineup, albeit with a few updates to further slash emissions. New electrified power units could be introduced in the form of mild hybrids and probably a PHEV.

The Spanish automaker is understood to premiere the facelifted Ateca in a few months, before launching it towards the end of the year. The model will continue to challenge the likes of other compact SUVs, such as the Nissan Qashqai, Ford Kuga, Opel/Vauxhall Grandland X and Honda CR-V, among others.
