We have snapped some fresh spy shots of the upcoming, high performance version of the latest Mercedes-Benz A-Class hatchback, which we will come to know as the A45 AMG, or according to some sources, the A25 AMG.

Despite the prototype model’s heavy cladding, we hear that the A45 AMG may be revealed as early as this September at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, with sales to likely follow in the beginning of 2013.

Mercedes-Benz is being secretive about the A45 AMG’s mechanical hardware, but it is expected that the range-topping A-Class hatch will pack a heavily modified version of the A 250’s 2.0-liter turbocharged four-banger delivering somewhere between 320-horsepower to 350-horsepower, putting it on par with Audi’s current RS3 Sportback (335hp / 340PS).

A new all-wheel drive system will channel all those ponies to the road, while other upgrades will include a revised chassis with bespoke suspension, steering and braking systems as well as wider performance tires.

The new A45 or A25 AMG will not be offered in North America, but its driveline will, as the German automaker will use the four-cylinder turbo engine and AWD system on the AMG flavored CLA small sports sedan.
