On the same day that Ford announced the addition of a 305Hp 3.7-liter V6 option for its Taurus-based Police Interceptor Sedan, the Chrysler Group revealed that is preparing an all-wheel drive version of its Hemi V8-powered Dodge Charger Pursuit vehicle, which up until now, was available to law enforcement agencies only with rear-wheel drive.

The AWD model will use the same 5.7-liter V8 rated at 370 horsepower and 390 lb.-ft. of torque as the RWD Charger Pursuit, with Dodge having already started field tests in order to have the car ready for order for the 2014 model year.

“Adding available all-wheel-drive capability to the already popular Dodge Charger Pursuit will broaden the Charger’s appeal to police departments that are accustomed to dealing with rough winters and adverse weather conditions,” said Peter Grady, Vice President – Network Development & Fleet, Chrysler Group LLC.

“With the Charger Pursuit now offering dual capability of both rear- and all-wheel-drive, we’ll be able to meet the needs of our police fleet customers across the country,” he added.
