The first of many new products to come from the Maserati and Alfa Romeo brands over the next few years in the premium segments is the 2013 Quattroprote full-size, luxury sedan.

Now in its sixth generation and probably more mature than ever – some will say, too mature…- the new Quattroporte will make its global premiere in a couple of weeks’ time at the Detroit Auto Show before it goes on sale worldwide at prices few will likely be able to afford.

The Quattroporte means a lot to the Trident firm, so much that for the first time in its history (at least that’s what Maserati is telling us), it has shared a video of the car testing at the Balocco Proving Ground in northern Italy.

When it becomes available for order next year, the 2013 Quattroporte will offer buyers a choice of two turbocharged petrol engines, a 3.8-litre V8 with 523hp (530PS) and rear-wheel drive only, and a 3.0-litre V6 generating 404hp (410PS) that can optionally be had with all-wheel drive, another first for Maserati.
