Money can’t buy you love or happiness, but it sure can get you in a Lamborghini, and if you’re the kind of person who wants and can afford the greatest and latest, an Aventador LP 700-4 Roadster at just US$300,000, may bring a ray of light or two (pun intended) in your life.

Even more so if you happen to live somewhere warm and sunny to enjoy open-top motoring. Like Miami, for example, where Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann unveiled the open-top version of the Aventador on Monday, January 28.

A total of 50 Lambos paraded down Collins Avenue before arriving to the Miami International Airport. Once there, five Roadsters sped down the runway, clocking 210 mph (338 km/h) and, thus, easily exceeding the 150-180 mph (240-290 km/h) takeoff speed of any current aircraft.

“It has been a great pleasure to work with the Miami-Dade Aviation Department and South Beach teams on today’s amazing demonstrations”, said Winkelmann. “I have never seen something similar at a Lamborghini event. The Aventador Roadster is our most exciting production car ever and I can think of no better place to celebrate its launch than here in Miami”.

Probably the City of Angels, where we suspect a large percentage of the Roadsters will end up, would have been just as nice, if a little colder. We guess the Italian automaker’s LA customers won’t mind either way. You can scroll down to view the image gallery and video of the Aventador Roadster launch.
