Back in the days when most people knew “Quattro” only as the Italian word for “four”, Audi presented a car that would shape the carmaker itself as well as the industry as a whole: the Audi Quattro Coupe that debuted in 1980 at the Geneva Motor Show.

Now known as the Ur-Quattro, with Ur roughly translating as “first of its kind” or “the origin” from German, the all-wheel drive sports car that led to the insanity that was the Group B Audi Sport Quattro S1 was produced from 1980 through 1991 (though, U.S. deliveries stopped in 1986).

The reason why we’re reaching back to the future is a Craigslist find that was brought to our attention by Carscoops reader Dominic R. It’s a 1983 Ur-Quattro in a bronze-brown shade that has been restored to its former glory.

The seller and the pictures say it is powered by the 2.2-liter 20V inline-five, which from what we know, is not period correct as the 1983 model should be equipped with the 197hp (200PS) 2.1-liter straight-five 10v.

We don’t need to tell you that if you are interested in the sale, which currently stands at $19,000 or best offer, you should do your homework on the model’s history before you go take a look at it.

Thanks to Dominic R. for the find!
