With Mercedes-Benz and BMW battling it out in terms of US sales until the very last month of 2013, many people may have forgotten that yet another German premium manufacturer is waiting in the shadows.

That being said, Audi of America just reported June 2014 sales of 16,867 cars, with the Audi Q5 and the A3 Sedan being the two top sellers of the Ingolstadt manufacturer’s lineup in the United States.

The June grand total of 16,867 vehicles sold represents a 23.1 percent improvement compared with the same period last year, while also being Audi’s 42nd consecutive month of record monthly sales.

“In just six months this year, Audi has sold more vehicles in the U.S. than it did over a full year as recently as 2009,” said Mark Del Rosso, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Audi of America.

“The spring launch of the all-new A3 sedan is the latest building block for this achievement along with the continued success of our sport-utility models and a strengthened presence in the top premium segments. Underpinning all of that is a steadfast commitment to elevate the Audi brand through a sustainable business model,” he added.

Despite neither BMW nor Mercedes-Benz releasing their June sales figures for the US yet (at the time we wrote this piece), it is safe to say that Audi still has some caching up to do overall though – despite their record-breaking monthly sales – especially since Lexus sales have also started bouncing up in recent months.
