Bold is not what you’d call the styling and design effort put into the all-new Jaguar XE compact exec. Bold is not what you will be calling the upcoming XF, as it will feature a variation of the XE’s design, but you will be tempted to use the epithet for the next-gen XJ.

According to Edmunds,  the new Jaguar flagship sedan “will be a bit of a jolt, but will work for people.” We don’t really know what that means, but if Jaguar wants to go all out on design, we’ll be biting our nails to see what the team lead by Ian Callum comes up with – it apparently debuts in 2017 and it will be the first to preview a new look for Jag.

The same report also hints at a model to better fill the spot left in the Jaguar range by the discontinued XK – the F-Type isn’t a direct replacement, and there’s definitely some wiggle room and a purpose for such a model to exist.

As far as the upcoming crossover/SUV goes, it’s apparently still not decided if and how they’re going to go about making it – it remains under “close consideration” and has not actually been green-lit yet.
