Update: Along with the live video stream, we’ll also be uploading and sharing any new pictures and/or information that surfaces online.

At 6:00 PM PDT or 9:00 PM EST on Wednesday, September 3, Mazda will yank the covers off the fourth-gen 2016 MX-5 Miata at simultaneous global reveals in Tokyo, Barcelona and Monterey. The presentation will kick off half an hour earlier.

You can visit this page when the U.S. event starts to watch a live video stream of the presentation from Monterey, California.

Mazda has promised a new chassis for the new MX-5 with the engine positioned “closer to the vehicle’s center, a center of gravity which itself is lower than that of any previous generation” of the roadster that celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.

According to the Japanese firm, the new car is “decidedly leaner with a weight reduction goal of more than 220 lbs (100 kg)” over the current model. Engine options have yet to be confirmed, but we expect a new 2.0-liter SkyActiv straight four, and possibly, a 1.5-liter for select markets.

Until we learn more, we’ll keep an eye open for any breaking news on the next MX-5, codenamed ND, and pass them along.

As always, if you find anything interesting about the Miata’s replacement that you’d like to share, you can add it in the comments box below.
