Some car ads really do feature the wrong type of car-athlete mix – as if nothing says LeBron James better than driving a KIA. With this one though, the 911 Turbo S and Maria Sharapova are a match made in heaven.
We really applaud Porsche for their choice here (Sharapova is currently their brand ambassador as well). Think about it. You’ve got the 560 HP 3.1 second Porsche 911 Turbo S, one of the fastest accelerating cars on God’s green earth. So endorsements aside, who better to associate this type of vehicle with than Maria Sharapova, with her 34 singles titles and her five Grand Slam titles.
Sharapova is currently ranked No.2 in the world behind Serena Williams, but that doesn’t mean she’s any less likely to gain back that position and look (really) good doing it. Speaking of looking good, we can say that about both her and the Turbo S in this spot and we’re even feeling what she’s saying about being motivated to succeed.
It goes for both professional athletes as well as the automotive industry – where Porsche is always giving their all and setting benchmark after benchmark in various segments.
Still, solid monologue from Maria and solid job from Porsche’s marketing people.
