Overtly arcade racing titles were successful because their exaggerated physics, coupled with the usually effect-laden, colorful graphics and the simple fun they offered. The genre has moved on and this is reflected by the latest game in a long-running series: Trackmania.

The most recent installment in the series is Turbo, and it’s an all new game with great graphics, breathtaking action and much improved customization options.

Publisher Ubisoft released a gameplay video and we will come out and say it straight up: it looks awesome!

The game seems so good that it makes this kind of racing event believable – were people actually to organize such a race as the one portrayed in-game, it would probably look like the one portrayed in this virtual reality.

You could even call it realistic, even though looking at how the cars move it clearly isn’t. Maybe there is room in the genre for a simulator game that relies on realistic physics to make the stunts happen and remain fun at the same time – Beam NG could cater to that, but it’s far from finished currently.
