The fact that Citroen wants to develop a radical new suspension system by 2017 isn’t a secret anymore, even though apparently the French car maker won’t do it alone.

A few days ago, we reported that CEO Linda Jackson stated that Citroen’s engineers have been working – for quite some time now – with a supplier in order to focus on a comfortable suspension without compromising handling. But who’s Citroen’s mysterious supplier, and why is it important to find out?

Well, partly because the supplier’s name could indicate the type of suspension technology used in the future vehicles, and partly because this represents a milestone in the car maker’s history, as Citroen wants to carry on with illustrious, soft-riding tradition, even after scrapping the hydro-pneumatic setup.

Anyway, according to citroen-forum.nl, the Saint-Ouen based company has teamed up with Bose to do the work, as the latter is looking for a partner to support its revolutionary system since 2004. So, could this be the alternative to hydro-pneumatics that Citroen’sbeen looking for? Autovisie says that a Citroen spokesman did not confirm this theory.

The Bose suspension system uses electromagnetic motors and power amplifiers to control (via a software management system) each wheel in order to deliver “greater comfort and greater control”. Sounds familiar?
