Ford is said to be edging ever closer to offering its small crossover in the United States as per a new Automotive News report.

The EcoSport is available across Europe, Asia, Oceania and South Africa, but has never been offered in the US.

However in late 2017, this will change when the car travels across the Atlantic as a 2018 model to rival the Chevrolet Trax, Subaru XV Crosstrek and Jeep Renegade.

Numerous disguised EcoSport models have been spied testing in recent months indicating that the car will receive a subtle facelift before reaching US shores.

It will be practically identical to the one sold in other markets, save for any details necessary for federalization, but it’s currently unclear what engines it will be available with.
