The time has come for the Ford Mondeo to get its mid-life refresh and our spies bring you the first shots.

With the facelift of its American counterpart the Ford Fusion already revealed, Ford is now working on an update for the Mondeo.

The facelift will basically bring the same visual changes, meaning a new front bumper with LED fog lights, a reshaped front grille and a new design for the headlights, although the prototype spied here still wears the old headlights. Similar changes are expected to the rear, with a new lighting pattern for the taillights and a refreshed bumper with different exhaust finishers.

Dreamers might hope for Ford bringing the 325hp 2.7-litre EcoBoost V6 version to Europe, but as far we know, there is no such plan for the Mondeo currently in the cards. This could easily mark the return of the Mondeo ST, but again, we are just speculating here.

Minor updates are expected to be applied in the current powertrain range in order to slightly improve their efficiency levels and we even get to see how the new trick CCD suspension with pothole mitigation works on European roads.

The facelifted Ford Mondeo is expected to debut at the Paris Motor Show in October as a MY2017 model.
