If you feel like Ford didn’t do enough to upgrade their ultra-sporty little Fiesta ST in time for the Geneva Motor Show, it’s probably because you’re still caught up in the numbers.

The 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine has been, by all intents and purposes, boosted to 200 PS and a grand total of 290 Nm (214 lb-ft) of torque, though it can go up to 215 PS and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) for up to 15 seconds during overboost.

Even so, there are plenty of faster hot hatchbacks out there, and getting to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.7 seconds is by no means impressive in today’s world.

So then what’s the big deal right? Well, there is a “big deal”, just that it doesn’t involve straight line speed all that much.

The fact that Ford went and added Torque Vectoring Control and a 3-mode ESC system, then stiffened up and lowered the suspension, should make this thing drive a of a lot better than it did before – and trust us, it’s already a great little driver’s car.

Ford also added a sharper and quicker steering rack and increased the Fiesta ST’s stopping power – and that’s basically what the ST200 is; a slightly faster, yet much more competent pocket rocket, which is something you automatically know if by any chance you’ve driven the regular ST before.

As far as looks go, unlike the car from the original press release, the ST200 on display in Geneva was white and came with 17″ machined black alloys rocking red calipers.
