Hard work, combined with the most successful year in the company's history, have repaid Porsche's employees with a special bonus of €8,911 (equivalent to $9,894).

The decision was taken by the automaker's chiefs, after the Executive Board and General Works Council reached an agreement.

The special bonus, which will be paid to approximately 15,600 employees of Porsche AG, "contains two components", as the manufacturer explains: €8,211 ($9,117) paid on account of the positive results and special achievements of the workforce during the past financial year and €700 ($777) available as a special contribution to the Porsche VarioRente pension scheme or individual retirement provisions.

"The bonus is the justly deserved reward for the great commitment shown by our employees. My special thanks go out to them, because their knowledge and their dedication have contributed to our achieving such an exceptional result in what is by no means an easy environment", commented Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG, Oliver Blume.

In 2015, the automaker sold 225,121 vehicles, up 19 percent compared to the previous year. Revenues rose to just under €21.5 billion ($24 billion) and operating profit increased to €3.4 billion ($3.8 billion). The most popular vehicle in 2015 turned out to be the Macan, with 73,119 examples sold, and in terms of markets, Africa, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East registered the highest amount of sales: 87,658 units.
