If you’re looking to see which of these three modern-day supercars is quickest in a straight line, a 1/4 mile drag race should definitely do the trick.

Right off the bat, the Dodge Challenger Hellcat couldn’t be more different than the other two. On the other hand, the Porsche 911 Turbo S and the Nissan GT-R are remarkably similar, from their twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engines to their DCT transmissions and AWD systems.

In a broader sense, the Hellcat is more of a blunt instrument, rather than a precision surgical tool, which seems like a fair way to describe what these three cars are about when discussing performance.

So then, which one would you go with when it comes acceleration? Well, with 707 HP, the Hellcat could have easily been the most “confident” car here, if it wasn’t for its massive 2,014 kg (4,440 lbs) kerb weight.

The 911 Turbo S is the lightest car here at 1,605 kg (3,538 lbs), while the GT-R weighs 1,730 kg (3,813 lbs). Both of them are quicker than the muscle car to 60 mph (96 km/h) but at the same time have less torque – a lot less actually.

Thanks to its 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, the Challenger Hellcat puts down a monster 880 Nm (650 lb-ft) of torque, which usually helps it cross the 1/4 mile marker in a pinch under 11 seconds. Then again, all that grunt is going to its rear wheels and getting off to a good start is crucial under these types of circumstances.
