Before the next-generation Dodge Challenger arrives in 2018, it has emerged that the company is planning to introduce both all-wheel drive and widebody variants of the current model.

According to a report from Automotive News, Dodge will unveil a new Challenger variant this fall dubbed the GT AWD. It will utilize a V6 engine sending power to all four wheels, offering customers a drivetrain not available elsewhere in the muscle car market.

Less than 12 months ago, Fiat Chrysler Automobile’s Mopar division unveiled an all-wheel drive Challenger Concept thought to have borrowed its drivetrain from the Chrysler 300. While it remains to be seen if the same setup will be used for the production model, it’s very likely that some parts will be shared by the two.

Beyond this all-wheel drive Challenger, the report goes on to claim that a new derivative of the SRT Hellcat will be introduced, dubbed the ADR. It will apparently adopt a widebody kit and continue to use Dodge’s potent 707 hp, 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine.

Power could conceivably rise marginally to make the ADR just that little bit faster than the standard model. A tentative launch date of 2017 has been given.
