Mercedes-Benz has set a new sales record for itself in 2016 with one month to spare, easily eclipsing its 2015 sales figures.

In the first 11 months of the year, Mercedes has sold a total of 1,893,619 vehicles, an 11.8 per cent increase over the same period last year. When you add on the 129,770 Smart models sold this year, it brings the automaker’s total year-to-date sales to 2,023,389.

Unsurprisingly, Europe remains the brand’s most prolific market. This year, 819,689 of its vehicles have been sold there, 12.8 per cent more than last year. Asia-Pacific is then the next largest region, accounting for 665,444 sales, the vast majority of which come from China (429,325 to be exact). In the NAFTA region, 358,292 units have been sold, 308,226 of which come directly from the United States.

These sales successes come on the back of the German carmaker recording its 45th consecutive month of record sales.

In November, the brand sold 182,602 vehicles, a significant 12.7 per cent jump on November 2015. It credits much of this success to sales of the latest-generation E-Class sedan and E-Class Estate.
