On the back of the McLaren P1 LM setting a new production car lap record at the Nurburgring in May, Lanzante Motorsport has dropped a clip that goes behind-the-scenes of the blistering 6:42.3 lap.

Lanzante made the decision to chase the record at the ‘Ring after launching the car at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2016 and setting a new production car record up the famous hillclimb.

With Kenny Brack at the wheel, the company was in the perfect position to make it happen at the demanding German racetrack.

Having scored a new record, placing it ahead of the NIO EP9 and the Lamborghini Huracan Performante, Lanzante decided against trucking the P1 LM back to the UK and instead drove it the whole way back, proving that it is capable of being driven on the street and is a proper road car, even though it may look like a race car and is restricted to just five customer examples worldwide.
